On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…
Eight great apps for graphics.
Here’s eight apps on your phone or tablet you can use for making graphics of different sorts and sizes. Some of these are free, some cost less than a cup of certain holiday drinks at particular coffee shops.
Adobe Spark Post allows you to quickly create text-on-photo montages that work great for featured images in you posts. One of the best features of this app is the ability to randomly generate themes or variations of a graphic.
It’s like Adobe Illustrator for your phone or tablet. Great if you want to draw out illustrations (hence the name). One cool feature is the ability to use shapes for tracing around.
It’s like Adobe Photoshop for your phone or tablet. At first glance, it looks similar to Illustrator Draw, the main difference being the different types of brushes available.
Procreate has many of the same features as Adobe’s apps, but seems to be packed with more power and editing capabilities. If you’re looking for an app with tons of different brushes, Procreate is the way to go.
Procreate has two versions of its app, a tablet version called Procreate and then a phone version called Procreate Pocket.
Autodesk Sketchbook is similar to Adobe’s apps and Procreate. The main difference seems to be the interface, where all the tools are visible on the screen at once.
This app is kind of like Spark Post, but gives you a lot more freedom (which means then you need to think). Of all the apps mentioned, I think this would be the easiest for creating informational graphics.
Believe it or not, you can create graphics using Apple Keynote or Microsoft PowerPoint apps on your phone or tablet. They won’t win you any awards, but if you’re familiar with their interface, use them.
Yes, you can draw on most digital notepads now like Apple Notes, Microsoft OneNote, Evernote, etc. You can also export the images individually in most cases, so you could draw something in Apple Notes and export to WordPress.
